Thai Massage: Sen Line Theory and Therapy

September 5 - September 9 | 650us$
Bodymind Thai Massage, Newington
CONNECTICUT, CT United States

On this 5 day course we discover each of the ten sen, where they are in the body and what areas they address. By feeling along the energy channels we can easily find the blocks and release them. Blocks can be found on one whole side of the body or one body part or just on just one spot on the line. With this knowledge we can uncover the root cause of the issue, rather than trying to treat a symptom, and so, can give extremely effective treatment with long term relief. This is a great course for people who are stuck in a system of treatment and want to be able to work specifically, diagnostically and have every asana be effective. In this way we can give a half hour treatment that addresses all the problems and does not waste our clients precious time or over work them. We will be learning specific therapy for the obvious issues clients present with, neck and shoulder pain, lower back and sciatic issues, carpel tunnel syndrome

Introduction to Thai Medicinal Herbs

September 7 | $150
Zion Massage College, 567 South Valley View Drive
St George, Utah, 84770 United States

This one-day workshop is a basic introduction to the herbal healing traditions of Thailand. Medicinal herbs are an intrinsic component of the ancient healing traditions of Thailand, and they have many applications in the modern world. The compresses are steamed, and then applied to the body to relieve stress, to ease tension and to bring about a calm state of mind.

The course presents a basic understanding and working knowledge of the medicinal properties of major Thai herbs, preparation of herbal infusions and poultices, and basic knowledge of Thai herbal compress therapy. There is discussion, mixing, tasting, and preparing herbs, and a review of application techniques in bodywork. We will discuss conditions that are suited for treatment with herbs and compresses, and we review Thai massage techniques and concepts for both hot and cold herbal compresses. The effects of a Thai herbal session can be truly amazing; aches and pains seem to fade away, and you feel relaxed yet energized.
